World Kidney Day
March 9, 2023 All day
World Kidney Day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of kidneys. Humans have two kidneys, located on either side of the spine in the lower abdomen. They are responsible for removing waste products and excess fluids from the body. Kidneys also release various hormones and produce vitamins. This day aims to inform the world about ways to prevent kidney disease.
World Kidney Day was established in 2006 by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations. It is observed annually on the second Thursday in March.
